If you know Chad and his dad Brad at all, then you know they are huge U of O football fans. Like, check-the-Duck-internet-boards-everyday fans. They go down to an Oregon game each fall as well. This year, Chad decided Jack was old enough to be introduced to the wonders of Oregon football. The three generations packed up and headed out of town last weekend for the (free!) Oregon spring game (a scrimmage within the Oregon team). They stayed in a hotel where they got to swim (a major highlight for Jack), play Legos, and eat an amazing breakfast each morning, and jump from bed to bed. They had a wonderful time.
Jack and Chad outside Autzen Stadium.
The spring game is geared for kids, so they have the indoor practice field set up with all kinds of activities for kids to enjoy.
Tackling Grandpa.
The spring game also featured the Armed Forces for kids to meet. Jack got to see this real soldier with a real cannon.
Jack in the Humvee.
This is my favorite picture from the game.
The boys did lots of swimming in the hotel pool.
On the way home, they stopped at Multnomah Falls. They were featuring Search and Rescue teams, so there were bloodhounds to look at and lots of fun prizes to win.
I think Jack ran Grandpa and Daddy into the ground. :) He seems to have an unlimited amount of energy.... It was fun for me to talk on the phone with Jack each night so he could tell me what he did. The first night I asked him what he had done, and he told me "I played Legos!" Then, he told me that he'd show me the hotel one day. I think he's officially indoctrinated into Oregon football. I think one day, they'll love going to Pac-10 Oregon football games together. :)
What did Haylee and I do, you ask? We spent some time with Grandma LaVine on Friday, and then headed to Ephrata on Saturday to spend time with the Johnson grandparents and Rachel. It was so fun for me to spend time with just her. In the future, I'm sure we'll have lots of opportunities to do fun girlie stuff while the boys make the trek to see Oregon games. :)

Looks like the perfect weekend, I bet Jack was in Heaven! I love the picture where he's meeting the army guys. SO cute!
O dear, the in-duck-trination . . . we're working on a solid purple and gold counterpart down here!
LOVE it! you guys are building such neat traditions! Can't wait to see Jack in his green and Mitchell in his purple and gold!!
What a FUN tradition. I love how Jack will "get" so much more each year, until eventually the football will be the highlight (not just playing in the hotel) ;). And fun for you and Haylee to build some of your own traditions too!
