Baseball, Birthday Bash, and a Backache

Last weekend, the kids and I headed to Ephrata.  Unfortunately, Chad had quite a bad back episode and wasn't able to come with us.  We sure missed him, but still managed to have a good time.  We went to Aunt Rachel's community play on Friday night where she was the villainess in a melodrama called "Granny Smith Goes to Washington."  I didn't get any pictures, but she did a great job.  My parents even hired a babysitter for the kids so I could go.  It was lovely.

On Saturday, we headed to Johnson-O'Brien Stadium to watch the opening ceremony of the Babe Ruth World Series.  Yes, it's being help in lil' old Ephrata.  My dad has been working for months getting the field ready, and it was in tip-top shape.  Jack was excited to see baseball players and a man parachuting from the sky delivering the ball for the opening pitch.
 Mitchell at the opening ceremony.

Dad in his coaching uniform with Jack and Haylee.  Haylee told everyone that the shirt she was wearing was her "baseball shirt."
The day of the opening ceremony was also Mitchell's 2nd birthday and my dad's 63rd birthday.  We had a joint celebration at the Allstot's.  It was very fun and surprisingly relaxing.  I don't often think of going to a birthday party as a single parent with two kids as being relaxing, but this party had the perfect atmosphere and the kids did great.
Brand new toys to play with.  This was a great weekend as the cousins are all old enough now to play well together.  It was cute to watch.  Mitchell was a very generous 2 year old and shared all of his new toys so nicely.

The swing set was a big hit.
Birthday Boy Grandpa and the kids eating adorable monkey cupcakes.  It was a fun weekend with family!
